Fibre Channel on Mac OS 9 (and under)
Posted by: ArmorAlley on 2015-01-08 00:18:58
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a fibre channel PCI board that will run in Mac OS 9 or under? I have a NuBus FC board that used to connect a IIfx to some very expensive Scitex printer and I'm wondering if I can get it to work as a network card. Otherwise it would be just cool (and probably bordering on pointless) if I could get FC into my B&W G4.

Thanks very much

The old ATTO 3300 fibre channel cards work under OS 8 and OS 9 just fine. We used to use them all the time in Avid ABVBs, along with the older 1 Gbps Qlogic PCI cards. However, unless you write your own software, you're not going to be able to use these cards for networking.
