If it is not available free, I am willing to pay for it. The problem is, I have no idea where to get it. Aladdin (Allume) does not list it in their shop.
Any suggestions appreciated.
| Posted by: equill on 2007-09-14 06:56:31 As the interest of the vast majority of Mac users in any gear more than a few years old—and certainly more than a generation old—wanes increasingly, more than a little treasure trove is appearing in places such as eBay. The gear is either well-used, if not well used, or near-pristine as sellers attempt to capitalize on the diminishing number of die-hard retro-freaks as the part-time retro-freaks succumb to the allure of current gear. It is possible, if you go softly, softly, and are patient, to get almost anything that would have been near-impossible to find only three to five years ago. There won't be many such treasures available, but there will be some, and you need to be ever-watchful. I scored a virtually perfect CD of StuffIt 5.5.1 DeLuxe only 15mo. ago.
The only advance(?) of 5.5.1 over 5.5 is in file integrity watching. If all you need is decompression/decoding, the (once) free download of 5.5 is quite sufficient.
