Apple IIgs!
Posted by: chris on 2007-09-07 13:47:38
I was collecting a book at my school in the computer lab, when I noticed a Apple IIgs sitting in the corner, packed up like it was going to be dumpstered! Gasp! I promptly did nothing about it since I was in class. However, after school I walked around, trying to find the owner, and I did.

She gave it to me for free!

Bunch of old software too... Now I need to learn a new BASIC variant. 😛

20 Print "Chedder Rocks My World"

30 Next X

40 End

Btw, congrats

Any cards in the system (SCSI)?

That is a very nice find. Always, I mean always ask about any interesting machines that look like they're going to be dumped. Most of the time the owner will be happy to give them to a good home. The worst that can happen is they'll say no, but at least you asked anyway.

Hope you enjoy your IIgs!

I liked the conversation, which went something like this:

Me: "I was wondering, uh.. Whose is the Apple IIgs in the computer lab?"

*Pause*

Her: "You want it?"

Me: "Yes!" (barely keeping from screaming)

Her: "OK, load it on a cart and get the damn thing out"

No interesting cards, but hey, it's still great. 3.5 and 5.25 floppies, so I can use essentially all software for it, an ImageWriter II printer with lots of paper, and some software with NO OS! Gasp! Luckily most of the disks are bootable.

If anyone has 3.5 disk images they could send to me of any IIgs OS, I would be eternally grateful...
