My PowerBook arrived(thanks Macsane!) today, works well. I haven't tested the battery life but it boots and runs for at least 5-10 min(haven't tested past that.) It's got 7.5 installed(Mac OS, not System) and a bunch of software that may be useful in the future. The screen is crystal clear.
Only problem thus far is that the lappy has a whole load of crap in the extensions folder hogging a lot of RAM. (7mb! Gasp!!!) I've been determining what's not needed and getting rid of it and it seems to be running faster.

I have a 5300 that I can't use along with a 1400c I can't use. I don't have a power supply and I refuse to pay $14.95 + $15 for shipping from some e-bay guy.
Someday a kind soul will bless me with a power supply.

Someday a kind soul will bless me with a power supply. Do you not have one of those adapters that work with loads of them (Duos, G3 PowerBooks, earlier G3 iBooks, most pre-G3 PPC PBs)? I think they can power the 1400 (not the 5300 though). I know how annoying it is to get the laptop but not the adapter, it's happened twice to me, but both times I found an adapter for free (once on Freecycle, once from uni) so hopefully you'll find one soon!

Ayup, you're right, Macster...Duos, 1400s, 2400s, 3400's, G3's and clamshell iBook power adaptors are all interchangable...it doesn't matter which one you get, any one from the machines mentioned above will work fine on your 1400.

A Wallstreet?! :O What a waste! You should give it to one of us that has an adapter so that we can make use of it! }🙂 (I have two Duo adapters, which I believe just about work with G3s...)

No. White iBooks and G4 PowerBooks use a plug that looks the same, but is slightly smaller.
