68kmla, Beginning Quotes
Posted by: funkytoad on 2007-09-04 13:02:31
As many of us are aware, The beginning of the 68kmla can be found here: http://68kmla.org/forums/archive/grass_roots/a.html

here: http://68kmla.org/forums/archive/grass_roots/b.html

here: http://68kmla.org/forums/archive/grass_roots/c.html

here: http://68kmla.org/forums/archive/grass_roots/d.html

and here: http://68kmla.org/forums/archive/grass_roots/e.html

So I just wanted to point out that there were some good quotes right from the start.

Yes! Score! We should make a Mac army and go around liberating poor old 68K Macs
Maybe we should go incognito...walk around in trench coats and dark glasses...if someone asks us if that ColorClassic is a TV - we say yes.
Hmm' date=' 68k Liberation Army standard-issue soldier field equipment list1) 50 dollars (for purchase of 10-20 macintosh computers, 680x0 only)

2) torx screw driver with very long handle (for mac crackin')

3) copies of every version of system 6 (for booting up SEs w/o hard disks)

4) 2*4 piece of wood with 10" nail driven through it (for use when people think the compact mac you're carrying is a TV)

[/quote'] What historic moments. Feel free to add anything I have left out. 😉

What happened to those guys, anyway? The only originals that still seem to be around are cine and myself. 🙁

Coxy used to post in the pre-crash forums.

depends on who/what you call the originals, there's probably quite a few more than you think...I'm guessing 30-40 members?

I'm not ORIGINAL as the independent 68kmla forums seem to have started in November of 2001, but I've been around since March of 2002. It's weird to think that I've been a member here, albeit not to active lately, for 5.5yrs.

Sad isn't it?

I've been here almost a year! How the time flies :beige:

We should totally make a T-Shirt for the store that says "I survived the Great MLA Server Crash!" or something 😛

i joined...i want to say august or september 2004, taking breaks throughout the 3 year period but keeping pretty steadily obnoxious through it all i believe.

I remember the good ol' days on the MacAddict vintage forums (though, I didn't join the 68kmla until June 2002). Really surprised me when I came back last month how many of the originals aren't around any more.

In any hobby you have those that get into and out of it quickly and those who collect the same stuff forever with a passion.

Some people had to give it up because of family, space, money, and work issues.

Yeah, Microsoft caught me browsing 68kmla on the job... I was terminated immediately... [😀] ]'>

I think most of us from the early days just got preoccupied with other things...priorities shifting over the years and all. I'm barely on here anymore mainly because I've been trying to turn one of my former hobbies of photography into a second income (and eventually, hopefully, a primary career).

Sorry for the bump, compulsively name-searching lead me to this thread.

Work has been a big timesink for me (who would have thought!) but I get a chance to post and catch up on old topics now and again.

Great to see the place is still flourishing despite the many trials and tribulations of server drama. 🙂
