Studio display!
Posted by: IPNixon on 2007-08-12 14:38:58
Yet another Freecycle conquest 😀

I went to pick up a studio display last night from someone on Freecycle. I didn't get to try it until about an hour ago...the thing works perfectly. 🙂

It's the 17" ADC one that came as an option with the Cube; the display with the transparent plastic and flat front.

Stay tuned: I might be getting a Sawtooth soon 😀

^^desk setup with the new display. 🙂

(sorry for the bad quality in the lower portion of the image)

Ahh, I had thought you meant the LCD Studio Display that matched the Cube and I was hating you a lot, but now I see it's a CRT Studio Display I'm not hating you so much 🙂

Thaaaaaaanks. 😛

Not to say it's not a good find or anything, just that you'd be very lucky to get the LCD one for free, but freebie CRT displays are relatively common nowadays 🙂

That's a nice monitor. I've always wanted one of those but don't really have the space for one.

The first one I ever saw was at a university in Texas and it was the 21" Bondi model. That thing was massive!

Yeah, but I haven't seen an ADC Studio display for free anywhere. These things are *great* when it comes to picture quality. 🙂

I saw the blue monitor in Goodwill, but it was before I really got into collecting. It was rather large, indeed. 😛

I know the feeling though; using this display is downgrading from my Trinitron MultiScan 20se 21" display. But it's definitely worth it. 🙂

Nice conquest!

And for those downplaying this conquest - true, CRTs are easy to come by these days, but this display is by far the coolest looking CRT display out there - and probably one of the nicest image quality ones as well.

Best,

Matt

very nice. I was actually trying to get my hands on one of the older Studio CRTs, there were a few 17" on CL, but they got sold off rather quickly. I bit the bullet, and bought the 15" LCD. Never looked back.

-digital 😉

I wouldn't mind one of those for my G4, but I replaced my original video card with one that doesn't support ADC. I'd have to buy the Apple adapter, which isn't a cheap option even if the monitor itself was free.
