Got a G4...
Posted by: kondspi on 2007-08-04 23:38:01
Hey.

I saw this advertised on the local CL, and jumped on it...

A G4 AGP PowerMac with:

A 1 gHz Sonnet Upgrade

1 GB RAM

CD-R

2 HDs

And the original CDs

for $150.

I had to drive 40 minutes each way to get to it.

The guy who sold it to me also gave me the keyboard, mouse, and some of the original packaging materials. Also, he gave me a copy of Paint Shop, and a stack of CDs, including OS 9, the OWC "Kitchen Sink" software CDs for both 9 and 10, and Panther, Jaguar, and Tiger.

When I got home, the ram turned out to be .75 GB, but the optical happened to be a Pioneer SuperDrive, so I'm happy (though I did boot it from target mode to install the 10.4 DVD, which was a waste, retrospectively.) The two HDs were 80 and 10 GB, respectively.

I think I got a pretty good deal. The proc upgrade alone sells for $169, and one of the RAM sticks was a 512! :b&w:

You got an awesome deal there! Not only will the machine fly at that spec, it'll also have a great future ahead of it. 😀

not trying to be mean or anything, you should always look at the date before posting if its something deep in the pages or if browsing threw someone's posts list (cause the user could not be active anymore and could have been from a wile ago, like this one), if its a few months (not being exact) to a year old then start a new topic with a link to the old one and explain why you started a new one (if it adds something useful to the OPs post), lesson learned.

but to just add what you did didn't warrant a new post or to grave dig it

quit jumping on the new guy. He admitted his mistake. Let it be.
