Goodwill & Craigslist conquest!!!
Posted by: Flamingtoasters on 2007-08-02 22:29:32
One day, I went to goodwill to drop some stuff off. Naturally, I wandered over to the tech section and I find a perfect Macintosh plus just sitting there! It was $20 with no burn-in or yellowing! They also had the keyboard which was $5. I got the mouse and cables online.

Then on Craigslist, I found two free SEs and I go to pick them up. They hand me a box of other tech stuff as well. When I got home, I found an Apple Pippin in the box!!! All of this for the $8 it cost me in gas to drive over there!

Goodwill & Craigslist are gold mines for 68k macs!

Around here there is a magazine with coupons and they usualy have one for 40% off anything donated at Goodwill, and I believe at the sales counter you might find 50% off coupons.

I eventually sold the Pippin on eBay because getting software for it was too hard. You needed a game or software disk to run the Pippin's finder.

I got an Apple Design Keyboard and Teardrop mouse (missing ball and cover) for about $2 yesterday at a "Family Thrift Store". I have way too many Design keyboard and Teardrop mice already, but I figured that they would probably just throw it away if it didn't sell after a while, so I got it.

I have never seen a 68k mac on Craigslist or in Goodwill in my life!

It's a pity we don't have Goodwill in the UK and Craigslist has a very sparce following here. Second-hand electronics are almost a taboo in the UK, most shops won't sell them for insurance reasons.

eBay is reasonable here though and FreeCycle can occasionally crop up with some interesting items.

Good finds, especially the Pippin!

Pippins are too rare to just give away. That would be a lifetime keeper for me.

I uploaded a picture of the pippin. It also came with the controller and keypad (not shown).
