iBook G4 (1.33 GHz, Mid-2005) Power adapter?
Posted by: MrMacintosh on 2007-07-30 21:43:32
Hi all,

Having just recently scored an iBook G4 ("Mid-2005") that kernel panics, I need a bit more info - specifically the power adapter. According to EveryMac Specs, the iBook uses a 45W power adapter. Apple shows this one, but all I have is a YoYo. Would the yoyo work the same as the white one?

:?:

Thanks,

Kyle-

Depends on your Yo-Yo, If the plug doesn't fit it won't work. there was 2 yo-yos. Ones with a bigger plug that works on G3 PBs and Clamshell iBooks. Later had a slightly smaller plug that worked on Dual USB and up iBooks and G4 PB's. So, if it fits, it works.

You need the smaller one. icebooks and on use the smaller power connector

Argh. The power supply I have is the one that fits the Clamshells and PB G3s.

It's not something simple that like a pair of pliers could handle is it? (Thinking about the metal ring on the outside...)

No, the plug, which is a glorified stereo jack/plug btw, is slightly smaller too. Also, a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter won't work either.

I believe the connector is different for a reason, as one has a higher volt/watt output.
