IIsi & IIfx ROM SIMM question
Posted by: Gary_W on 2007-07-30 19:49:24
Hello, Is it ok to test a IIfx ROM SIMM by installing it in a IIsi and making sure it runs? Is it that simple?

I intend on installing it into my SE/30, but was wondering if I can test it in my IIsi first since it's easier to get to. I do not have a IIfx.

Thanks for any info!

I'm not sure that putting the IIfx ROM SIMM in your IIsi is a good idea unless you have one of the rare IIsi specimens that came with a ROM SIMM of their own.

Feel free to do it, I doubt you'll kill anything (and if you do, you're on your own) but I'm not sure it would be a helpful test.

Hiya Tyler, I just got my IIsi with ROM SIMM today ;-) Haven't had time to fire it up yet though. I have some IIfx ROM SIMMS but no IIfx and am just trying to figure out how to test them. I have not yet popped any into my SE/30.

Thanks for any info!

oh, wow. If you have a ROM SIMM-bearing IIsi, feel free to toss it in. If they both work in an SE/30, I don't see how you'd hurt anything swapping them.

edit: "Some" IIfx ROM SIMMs?

That's what I figured, but was not sure how to test that all is ok.
