| IIcx |
Posted by: Unknown_K on 2007-07-23 10:54:53 I snagged a IIcx with keyboard, mouse, and 14" Apple monitor (my 1st working Apple Monitor) the other day. These come with a FPU built in so I could run A/UX if I wanted to.
The only thing interesting about the IIcx was that the HD mounting plastic had a Micronet sticker on it and the HD was mounted sideways in a special tray (it was an 80MB 5.25" Seagate drive). The drive seems dead so I used a 5.25" 160MB one that originally came with my IIfx and it works fine with OS 6.08 and 8MB of RAM.
Case was dirty as hell (had the business card of some defunct printing company on the front), but wasn't yellowed much if at all (same with the monitor). A nice freecycle find.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2007-07-23 11:28:01 Would have to go look, but I think there was a socketed chip in there. I also see a ROM slot that is empty, so do I have an early IIcx or a later one?

Posted by: bigD on 2007-07-23 11:51:45 I've never seen a IIcx with the ROM slot occupied, but I think only the earlier IIcx's had the socketed CPU. You can easily see if the CPU is socketed if it has the gold badge on top. Here's a picture of mine:

Mine has the socketed 68030 CPU as well.

Posted by: bigD on 2007-07-23 14:31:50 I love my IIcx - it's just too bad I can't seem to get the poor thing working again. I'm gonna take another stab at cleaning the motherboard - then perhaps start replacing capacitors.
