Posted by: MacTCP on 2007-06-17 18:03:56 I got them out.

Posted by: iMac600 on 2007-06-17 22:11:38 Any special trick to getting them out? I plan to swap the ones of our old G3 soon... would be handy to know how.

Posted by: MacTCP on 2007-06-17 22:47:04 Look under Speakers in the service manual. It will tell you how.

Posted by: iMac600 on 2007-06-17 23:09:59 Thanks for the link... looks like there's some G4 manuals there as well that could come in handy later.

Posted by: MacJunky on 2007-06-19 02:19:45 I have found the description of removal of the slotloading iMac speakers in the service manual to only bend the plastic tab and make the speakers loose. :\

I have found the description of removal of the slotloading iMac speakers in the service manual to only bend the plastic tab and make the speakers loose. :\ That's how. And then you slide them off the divider panel.

Posted by: MacJunky on 2007-06-20 07:37:02 ... but they get _really_ loose and don't get tighter. :S

:?: After they're loose, can't you slide them off?

Posted by: MacJunky on 2007-06-20 11:26:33 According to the manual, yes. According to my experience with multiple iMacs, no.
Perhaps I am just not bending stuff enough? I don't know, kinda scared to use more force as _all_ of the the plastic in G3 iMacs is not at all known for quality and durability over long periods of time.
*shrug* I have even tried using very small thin objects to pry the tab while I slide the speaker off with no success.
|
Posted by: MacTCP on 2007-06-20 11:27:48 I bent and wiggled it with all my force since my iMac was already dead. 😛
