Geez, That a lotta free stuff. How the G4/9600 run un relation to, say one of those iMacs?

Would 7.6.1 run on the 9600? If it could, it would be very fast. I think that 8.1 would be swift as well.

I think 7.6.1 was what the 9600 shipped with. Sounds like a nice lot there, all free?

Crikey! I really wish people would give away Macs around here...

(Z)691-1231-A is the machine-specific Install CD for the 7300, 8600 and 9600, all of which terminated just before, on the day or a few months after the day on which the beige G3 was released with OS 8.0. It installs System 7.5.5.

However, the extended PB 1400, at least, shipped with OS 7.6.1.

The 9600 will NOT boot off 7.5.5 (Only pre-Mach 5 will)

Shipping system for Mach 5 9600 is 7.6.1

The 8600/9600 Mach V's are considered the fastest 7.6 machines in stock form. The beige G3 shipped with MacOS 8.

You are straining at gnats. At the time of release of the 9600, when the referenced CD was made available (4 August 1997), there was no Mach V (Kansas) logic board, which was always a later and minority variant, available. There is no rubric on the CD to the effect '... except the Kansas boards, which we shall release later'.

The 9600 (Tsunami) booted into 7.5.5.

4. G4 “Bubba” 9600/350
IIRC that was the name one of the refurb mobs sold tested, upgraded 9600s under. Well scored

8. Wacom Tablet and Pen 12 x 18” serial
8-o That's the score of the lot IMHO
