I just finished relocating the server from my parents' place to my residence.... I have not archived the data yet, but plan to do so before this weekend---- so it will be up and down (that is... if it's up at all)
Give the server a try, PM me if it's not working. I believe everything is good to go. 🙂

Think of it as a cross between FTP and IRC - it used to be quite popular apparently, but has largely died out now. It seems/seemed to be more popular among Mac users, but there are Windows clients to connect to Hotline servers too.

Hotline Connect (casually referred to as Hotline) was a multi-purpose internet communications product released in 1997 by Adam Hinkley (also known as "Hinks"). It is no longer being produced. The protocol utilized a client/server model of networking, combining chat, news, and file transfer capabilities into one product. In its peak of usage, Hotline was notorious for the exchange of warez and porn. The Hotline network eventually died out. It does still live on in some uses, as you can see. Because of it's low popularity, networks such as the 68k Hotline Server can easy be used without being hit by thousands of bots, unwanted users and spammers. It also feels complete, a community in one server. I always hoped there would always be at least one hotline server still around, because basically, it's better than internet in some cases.
For the record, Hotline was re-released later as KDX.

You need the Hotline Connect Client. For Windows (see The Macster's post below) or Mac OS.
You need a connection address, which you'll have to PM me for.

Windows Don't download that, it contains adware - go here and get the older version of the Hotline client for Windows, which still works fine but doesn't contain adware.

Glad to see that it has been working 😀
I'll be taking it down today or tomorrow to hook up my Ghetto UPS system to it. The one I had at the old location needs to be modified (longer 12v battery wiring) to make it work at my place. I also need to change some wiring around for the modem/router to make sure it is on battery backup too.
Sorry about the two months of nothingness. My job has me going crazy right now!

Once I get my B&W retrofitted, I will be able to offer a mirror of this (Ironic since I had the original way back when 😉 ) on a very fat connection (think 1000kbps +), but with a 2gb a day limit.
Right now the B&W is KP'ing too often for a good server, and they are cleaning out the studio where I had it hooked up.
