| Macintosh IIvx and a Quadra 630! |

Both work properly, alto the IIvx is missing its hard drive. The IIvx has a full 030 and the Quadra has a full 040 with TV tuner! I am happy I Got these two macs for 20$ with one keyboard and mouse, along with a radius 20 inch mac monitor! Now to look for software..... 🙂

Cool. I just got a Performa 631CD free and immediately installed a full 040 in it bringing it up to a Quadra. You can also put a 6360 board into the Quadra 630 to make it a PPC603 machine. You can put a Quadra 650 or 700 motherboard in that IIvx. I have a 700 board in mine, because that's what I had but the 650 board is better if you can get one.

doesn't the 6360 motherboard require a different power supply? I know that you can use a 6300 motherboard (I actually had a 630 that had this done to it), but not the 6360 unless you replace the PSU.

I don't know about the PSU. That may be an issue. I actually have a 6320 board here that I wanted to use, but I think the PRAM battery is dead, so I was never able to test it. The 6360 is the same form factor with the same connectors so that much isn't an issue. A compatible power supply still shouldn't cost much if it is a problem.

I think that the fact that it's a complete redesign of the logic board and CPU is the reason for the PSU replacement.

Hmmm OK. You learn something new all the time. At least now I also know that my 6500 main board also won't work (electrically)in a 63x case. I don't see how he can say the 6360 can be upgraded to a 6500, though, as the PCI riser card is too high to clear the smaller opening on the back of the 6360 case. To put the 6400/6500 board in you basically give up your PCI slots because even after removing the riser card it does leave you with one PCI slot, but you can only put a half height card in it because a full height one won't make it into the case.
