Which version of Quicktime? 68040, OS 8.1?

Hi...

I am running a LC 575 logic board in my Color Classic along with OS 8.1.  The version of Quicktime I am running is version 4.  Can I run a more modern version of Quicktime?  If so, which version should I be looking for?

Are the only movie file format that Quicktime can play are Quicktime movies?

Thanks

QuickTime 4.0.3 is the last 68k version. It requires System 7.1.1 or later, a 68020 or higher, and at least 8MiB of RAM.

QuickTime typically uses its own container file format for movies. The file type code is "MooV" and can have the extension ".mov" for cross-platform compatibility. These containers can hold multiple video and audio tracks in a number of different encoding formats. In 68k QuickTime 4, the built in video codecs include:

Apple Video Codec

Animation

Graphics

Cinepak (also called Compact Video)

Sorenson Video

Thanks rsolberg....  I checked and I am running 4.0.3.  I will look around for some movies that I can play.  The vga mod went well on my Color Classic.  I installed the LC575 board and installed 8.1.  Now I need to populate 8.1 with some software. I was able to get my SCSI2CF drive to let me boot to 7.6.1 or 8.1.  I am a happy camper now.
