| "Headless" Macintosh Plus in a 1U server case |
Posted by: mactjaap on 2017-09-22 09:23:53 (Due to a database roll back my item was lost in cyber space. I'm trying to restore it here:
See: https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/31254-2017-09-22-database-rollback/ )

I'm having fun with my Macintosh Plus, a FloppyEmu and a web server ( MacHTTP). If I switch on the Plus it will boot a HD image with System 7.0.1 from the FloppyEmu and with an alias in the Startup folder. So it boot "automagicaly" into MacHTTP and becomes a web server. The Plus is connected to a Etherprint Mini LOcalTalk bridge and in my LAN I have a macIPpi running with port forwarding so I can reach this web server from the Internet.
I was thinking to make this a permanent live Macintosh Plus webserver. Then I thought, how to implement this in a hosting centre? Maybe build this solution ( Plus+LocalTalk bridge + MacIPpi) into a 1U server case. Because of the auto staring of the HD and the web server I don't need a monitor.
I there anyone with experiance how to boot a Plus motherboard WITHOUT the analog board and monitor? If so.... I have some clue what to do I can experiment with this.
Turned it on for today:

I aleady got one advice:
Get the connector pinout and connect it to a atx PS. I would at least include a speaker so you can hear it chime. Otherwise, the mac plus logic has no way of knowing that it's not connected to a screen.
Also, in case your interested, I'm actually working on an adapter that will allow internal connection of a hard drive to a Macintosh plus logic board. Stay tuned...

OK .......and when I switch it off tonight we still have the video:

#1 If you get the pinout for the logic board, you can connect an ATX power supply and also connect a speaker. In short, the mac plus logic has no way of knowing it's not connected to a monitor.

Yes your answer was deleted by the database roll back. Thanks for completing the post. I'm still missing a small part because your post was not complete:

#2: read on this forum that you can build an adapter that will allow composite out. Note on this: That mod to build a composite out only works with monitors that will accept a *very* non-standard video frequency. (The context in which it appeared also included instructions for hacking a specific Apple II monitor to be able to take the output.) It won't work with just any off-the-shelf LCD TV.
