Macintosh 128k boot problem on floppy.

Posted by: matacao on 2017-08-07 03:24:20 Hi folks, I have a problem with my Macintosh 128k. When I want to boot on a floppy (internal or external floppy drive), the floppy drive take the floppy, it spin up but nothing else. The Macintosh keep block on the happy mac icon or on the interrogation point. The internal 400K floppy drive is new. I can also move the mouse cursor on the screen. Does anyone have an idea of the problem (ram, rom...)? (I can perform any tests, the Macintosh is open.) Thanks, matacao.

Posted by: bibilit on 2017-08-07 04:16:59 Hi mate, I will try another disk (or creating one new from scratch), happened to me a couple of times, some floppy disks can became bad after a while.

Posted by: fri0701 on 2017-08-07 06:38:53 If you're sure the drive's read head is clean, you might want to check out replacing the Bourns Filters on your logic board. Posted by: matacao on 2017-08-08 02:56:54 I have unmounted the floppy drive and I have connected it to a Mac Plus (external) and there is no problem, the Plus read the floppy and boot on it, so this is not the floppy drive or the floppy itself. I will take a look at the Bourns Filters.
