System 7.5.3 standard applications
Posted by: manzana on 2017-07-29 00:49:37
Good morning,

I just got a beautiful Macintosh Classic 2 this week, put a new hard drive in it and installed System 7.5.3. It‘s working great. 🙂

But I have one question, I don‘t know if that‘s normal or a bug.

I installed several apps to the hard drive (stuffit, maczip,...) but when I want to open a zip or .gz or .sit file the Mac says, there would be no app to open these file types. The only way to open/extract them, is to open the app an then choose the file.

Is there any way, I can register the file types to certain programs?

And one other question: How can I put the System 7.5.5 Updater images on floppys with macOS Sierra? I have a USB Floppy and I already transferred a lot of files and images with floppys using Finder and dd. But those images are different, they are made with Disk Copy, but Sierra can‘t mount them.

Thanks in advance

What is the extension?

It says "Disk Copy 4.2 Image", but I cannot mount it or dd it to a floppy.

Here.  Use the file attached to this post to install System 7.5.5.

It is a single file that can update.  It is .hqx, so it can be unpacked with Stuffit.

Find a way to transfer this file, and you shouldn't have any other problems updating.

PS: Sorry about the google drive link, couldn't figure out how to upload an attachment.
