Surprise at Church!! (IIc Plus!!)
Posted by: Scott Baret on 2014-11-30 14:30:13
This morning, I went to church. I left with an Apple IIc Plus.

One of the guys in the instrumental ensemble had one, and he said he would bring it in sometime. He said it was just a IIc when we talked last time.

To my surprise, it was the Plus model!!

It didn't come with any disks (no biggie since I have a bunch of Apple II software here) but I did get the following with it:

--The 9" green IIc monitor

--ImageWriter II

--Apple 5.25" drive

--Laser-branded 5.25" drive (perfect for the Laser 128!)

--A random Microtek scanner with both USB and SCSI hookups (it's actually a larger size one)

It's not every day you get free old Apple stuff anymore, but a IIc Plus? Might have to start going to church more often!!

That's excellent! They always seem to fetch a pretty penny on eBay.

Well you must have performed a good deed, and got something in return 😉

Thanks everyone!!

I should mention, this isn't my first church-related Mac conquest...

Back when I was 14, I was on my way to church. This was confirmation Sunday so I was wearing my best blazer and tie. Along the way, I called for my mom to stop the car. I sort of startled her. This is because I saw a yard sale, and sitting smack in the middle of it was a dusty Mac SE with dual FDHD drives and an internal hard drive--plus a whole box of Apple II software!! A few minutes, $25, and a fresh coat of dust on the blazer later, I went to church to get confirmed. Let's just say I was a little unfocused during confirmation because I wanted to go home and try my new toy out!! I still have this SE today--it's one of those Macs I just won't get rid of because of the personal significance for me.

Nice! This is the first, and only, Apple my family owned. Since then its only been me owning Apple computers. I like the IIc+ a lot and even made a Star Trek knowledge quiz that added up results, etc. Good times!! Unfortunately I located it... in my parents basement... its in pretty sad shape.

So does it work?

Yep, you gotta love & cherish the ones with sentimental value+

A very nice blessing indeed.
