PowerBook G3 Battery rebuild
Posted by: AlpineRaven on 2017-07-10 06:05:22
Has anyone on here rebuilt an PowerBook G3 Pismo battery before? What did you use and is there an reset that needs to be done etc? Or am I better off sending it off to get it rebuilt. I am handy with soldering and pulling it apart.
Cheers

I've rebuilt 1 Pismo battery and it was a nightmare.

1) don't even think about used cells off of ebay

2) soldering the terminals is a brutal task... better off either finding a spot welder setup

3) do your absolute best to keep the contact strips intact and write down the circuit diagram ... take lots of photos with your camera phone

Its certainly doable, but, its a royal pain.

Get Sony or Panasonic or Toshiba cells, all others will lead to FAIL in less than a year.
