My Color Classic has a sad face
Posted by: mraroid on 2017-06-16 15:56:27
Folks...

I was working with my Color Classic II and when I rebooted, I got a black & whiter sad face and the death chimes.  Under the sad face it said:

0000000F
0000000A

I rebooted several times and still had the sad face. I tried to boot to a Norton emergency floppy.  It would try to boot, then spit out the floppy norton disk, and give me the sad face again.

I have a SCSI2CF card in my CCII.  So I removed the CF card and installed another CF card.  I booted to a apple branded 7.6 CD and installed the OS with out issue.  Even with this fresh install, I always boot to the sad face.  I ran Norton and it found no issues with my hard drive.  I ran disk first aid and it said both my partitions were fine. I can always boot just fine to a CD.

Where can I go on the web to underside the error code under the sad face?  Could it be hard drive related, or something else?

 Thanks

This site is golden:

According to that, it's a software error. But you mention reinstalling 7.6 had no effect, I might suspect either:

  • Your installation media (can you do a different version of Mac OS and see how it goes?)
  • Your SCSI2CF adapter (toss in a plain old SCSI drive and see if it makes a difference)

Such good advice Jack.  I have a SCSI drive here someplace.  I will roll that in and see if it fixes the issue. Thank you for the link.  I have printed it out to keep in my files.
