| Orinoco issue |
Posted by: techknight on 2014-11-23 13:34:20 I absolutely cannot get Encryption running on the Orinoco software.
Running mac os 9.2 on my G3. If I use WEP 64, or 128, I tried them both, encryption will not work. I see a signal in the control panel, but nothing works.
Turn off encryption, everything works fine.
what gives?

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2014-11-23 13:57:08 I think you entered the WEP KEY wrong (think software expects it in HEX or something).

Posted by: techknight on 2014-11-23 14:07:04 Been there, done that. I even tried the $ symbol in front of the hex password. Only thing I did not try was a $ for every byte.
my password for 64bit is DEADBEEFBA. simple. I tried $DEADBEEFBA and it didnt work. and DEADBEEFBA as itself doesnt work. I tried 128bit as well, using a longer hex key of course. Same results.
I treat all WEP as HEX. as the password generator tool in the Linksys router is going to be different from other things.

$DE$AD$BE$EF$BA
That didnt work either.

Posted by: Strimkind on 2014-11-23 23:12:06 I had no luck with my new router and the old Orinoco cards the last time I tried. Mind you I didn't explore troubleshooting it.
Have you tried switching between wep and wep 2?
Also I remember having to turn on long preamble for a more stable connection.

Posted by: techknight on 2014-11-24 05:44:19 Wep2? Dunno what that is. I am using a WRT54G. Doesnt have any of those options.
I know its the driver faulty. Ioxperts on the same machine in X works...

Posted by: TheWhiteFalcon on 2014-11-24 07:10:43 I don't think WEP2 exists. Might be confusing that with WPA2. WEP was such a failure that have a version 2 of it would seem to just be embracing and promoting failure....
The WRT54G shouldn't have an issue with WEP, I had to run that on mine several years ago due to an old wireless bridge for my Xbox. Did you try changing the key?
