Cheap eBay Quadra 700
Posted by: Schafeman on 2017-05-04 06:44:29
This is the Quadra 700 that was recently on eBay for $100.  So I will admit now that it arrived and I've assessed the most serious potential situation, an exploded battery (which isn't 🙂 ), I was the buyer.  Its at work with me, so I haven't had a chance to dig in and test anything yet, but i'm very pleased for a 'best offer' price well under $100.  According to the auction it powers on, but doesn't display anything.  I guess we'll see.  It does have a Macintosh II video card installed and a bunch of ram.

Nice machine! It looks incredibly clean on the inside. Good news about the battery.

Nice! I'm curious, isn't the Q700 internal video superior than that Mac II card? You'd think they'd installed more vram than a video card.

Yeah, its a very old video card in general so I'm not sure why it was installed.

Nice to see it was not a Maxell nightmare, and found a good home.

Zap the pram, reset the vram back into place. Try another video card if you have one.

Two screens are better than one and TOBY's are all but free, 'nuf said.

Nice catch, have fun with it.

Agreed - probably to drive more than one display.

Nice find, and one of the more bulletproof 68Ks.  Assume the motherboard is OK, check the PSU, PRAM, RAM, etc.

UPDATE..  I re-seated the ram and vram, works good as new.  Has 20mb installed and maxed out vram, since it does millions of colors @ 800x600.  Has a 230mb HDD (which is a bit noisy) with System 7.5.  I'd say this was a success!

Congrats! Nice find!

Sweet! If and/or when you pop in a SCSI2SD, the old workhorse will be amazing.

The 601 PDS upgrade is a nice little boost if you plan to push past 7.6, but not necessary if you want to keep the machine as authentic to the time frame.

Awesome! I saw that but was worried about the no video.
