Can I rename my hard drives? (7.6 on a Color Classic)
Posted by: mraroid on 2017-05-01 14:06:42
Hi...

I am running 7.6 on my color classic.  I have four partitions to my hard drive.  They are currently named:

Untitled
Untitled2
Untitled3
Untitled4

I am booting off of Untitled4.

I would like to re name my hard drives.  But I can't fugue out how to do this after the fact.  Do I need a utility to do this, or can I do it with 7.6?

Thanks in advance

Just select your HD (it's now highlighted), hit the enter key, rename it any way you like and the hit enter again to confirm.

Done.

Above. Works for me... I hate how you can't select a name in HD SC or whatever else.

to go further ahead, you can even change icons for each partition.

Select the Hard drive, then File > get info (or Ctrl i) that will open a new window.

Your icon can be managed here.

If it won't let you change the HDD name, turn off File Sharing.

Thanks for the good feedback bibilit.  I selected my drive, went to file, then get info. That part works.  I suspect I need to have additionl icons in my OS to choose from?  It seems that the only icon I can see is the one that is being used.  I can't figure out how to select other icons..... Maybe I need to down load some?

If I remember correctly, you have to copy an appropriately sized image to the Clipboard, and then paste it into the icon area in the Info window.
