Custom Desktop Patterns for OS7.6
Posted by: Syntho on 2017-04-30 14:51:03
I read somewhere that you can create your own .PCT patterns and drop them onto the Desktop Patterns interface, but after trying that it doesn't seem to work. How can I get my custom patterns into the Desktop Patterns control panel?

There is definitely a way, I remember turning all sorts of small images into desktop patterns. Digging around in the back of some fuzzy memories here but I don't think what your doing is incorrect, maybe your images are exceeding a max filesize or number of pixels?

If no-one else remembers how this works, you could always resort to Before Dark

Right, i'v now been able to find out how to do this. Desktop patterns gives off the impression that you can drag and drop because the pattern area gets a blue ring around it when you hover a pic over it, this isn't the way i did it.

I used an image editor (colour mac cheese) and the select tool to copy the selection to the clipboard. Then in the edit menu of Desktop Patterns i selected paste. You might need to raise the memory allocation of DP to get it to play nice with larger images
