| IIcx - IIfx ROM for 32bit Cleanliness? |
Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2014-11-20 07:56:12 I don't remember seeing anything about applying this common SE/30 memory trick to the IIcx. Google came up with squat, so has anyone tried this or installing OS8 afterward?
There's a jumper on the MoBo betwixt ROMs and ROM SIMM and I was going to pull it off to see if that might convince the IIcx to do absolutely nothing. The IIcx just up and decided it needed new caps so now I can't even test that, which renders these questions moot ATM . . .
. . . but the curiosity is killing me! :🙂

Posted by: olePigeon on 2014-12-04 09:46:46 Although my IIci is already clean 32-bit, I still put a DougG3 ROM in it with a copy of the IIci ROM on it. Â You just jumper it and it uses the SIMM instead of the onboard ROM. Â You can do the same with the IIcx if you have a clean 32-bit ROM. Â Just put the SIMM in and apply the jumper, you're ready to go.
Edit:  Well, DougG3 also loaded in-ROM the DayStar 040 drivers on my SIMM.  Turns out my DayStar didn't like using the SIMM versus the onboard ROM, but he fixed it for me. 🙂
