| Part number 654-0021. DDS DAT pull? |
Posted by: Alex on 2017-04-11 12:37:19 Hi
Does anyone know what this presumed DDS DAT drive may have been a pull from?
I am thinking of buying it but can't find any information on this device.
Thanks in advance

Google CTD8000H/R-S Do you think it's worth purchasing? Will fit into a Quadra 950? I don't know what I will use it for but that being said, is it worth buying?

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2017-04-11 14:42:44 Honestly, NO. Without a bezel it will look ugly in a 950 plus take up a hard to find mounting bracket better used for a HD (or maybe a CDROM drive).
The 950 has built in SCSI so attaching an external DAT drive (which can be used on any other SCSI equipped Mac or PC you might have) is the more flexible and cheapest way to go.
The only DAT drive I have in a 950 (I have 5 950's) is in my AWS95 which came with it stock. I have a dozen or more DAT drives in use here and half are external (the internal ones are more modern DDS4).

I see what you mean, gosh they are giving them away on ebay. I wish it was that cheap here in Poland. For what it's worth the one I posted pictures of is about 30USD.
… and you have 5 950s? Glorious!
Do you have parts for sale? I posted a WTB or swap for a 950 bezel and optical drive.
Anyway, thank you for the info, very handy.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2017-04-11 16:24:08 950 bezels are hard to find. I did post a link to one for 3.5" external drives (super floppy for example) still on ebay cheap.
No spare parts either, they are just hard to get. I kick myself for not buying more CDROM Bezels back when they were being sold cheap.
My first Mac was a Q950 I paid around $100 for back in 2001 or so. The others were ebay finds back when nobody wanted them and shipping was cheap, or local finds of people getting rid of them for free. I would rescue another if I could.
Good luck with your hunt.
