IIe compatibility card questions
Posted by: hunter44102 on 2017-03-19 04:47:21
Is the Y cable needed? can I load IIe disk images right off the LC/color classic hard drive, or does this card only work with an external drive?

(the cheap ones on ebay don't have the Y cable)

You can't load Apple II DOS .dsk images off the hard drive.  You can re-partition your drive to include a 32MB ProDos partition, and the internal floppy will appear as a ProDos device, but then you are limited to ProDos compatible software.  If you want to use Apple II DOS software, you're going to need the Y-cable.

It works with the internal drive too, if you have 3.5 inches floppy with ProDOS on it.

And i have tested the FloppyEmu with ".po" image (800 kB) without problem.
