| Cooking with four burners |
Posted by: ScutBoy on 2014-11-16 18:21:48 Thanks to member defor, my Genesis MP is now rolling along in full 4-way multiprocessing glory!
I got all the pieces together a while ago, but life got in the way before I could dig up the necessary MacOS bits to install (not knowing initially that BeOS would not work on a disk formatted in OS9), get a CD-ROM driver for my non-Apple SCSI CD-ROM, etc.
But now, I've got 4x132Mhz processors running under MacOS 8, and better yet, BeOS5 up and running. I let it run the GLTeapot for about 3 hours today, with no issues.
If I would have had more time, I would have pulled out the BeBox and taken a side-by-side portrait. One of these days... 🙂

Posted by: Macdrone on 2014-11-16 18:38:53 That's neat. I'd lol a MP classic is machine but finding them for a decent price is tough.
Great job that's awesome.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2014-11-16 20:20:53 Which mac apps take advantage of 4 CPU's? I assume BEOS does?

Posted by: TheWhiteFalcon on 2014-11-16 20:25:17 Photoshop is one of the few I know of.

Posted by: ScutBoy on 2014-11-17 06:04:16 The Daystar software installer had "plug-ins" for Photoshop and a couple of other apps to enable them to take advantage of multi-processing. When I get a chance, I can pull a list out of the readme files.
