Color Classic messed up CRT?
Posted by: LarBob on 2017-03-14 13:28:39
I bought a Color Classic and it arrived today with a dead hard drive and a messed up CRT. Is there a way I can adjust it and fix it? The top and bottom of the displayed image look "bent".

There are adjustments inside the back cover on the analog board. Pretty easy fix, use a non metallic tool to turn them and turn a little at a time to get everything back to normal.

I used some plastic adjustment tools like this to adjust my Color Classic CRT...

As others have said, theres little screws on the inside that can adjust them. Id look up the service manual. I think theres like 8 different ones...

My Color Classic's CRT is also not straight, not as bad as yours but the picture is pinched in the middle. I have adjustment tools but haven't tried them, I suspect the analog board needs new caps (so many big electrolytics)

I've had a few like that.  The screen was pinched near the top only (not also at the bottom) and no amount of adjustment on the screws could get it to be correct.  I'm assuming that was caps but ended up trading the machine away so I never found out.
