I recently pulled my Color Classic out of the closet to do some file transfers on. It's got a later LC mother board (Not 550, I think 520 if that's a thing?), 32 mb ram, and a recapped logic board.
I turned it on, there's sound. The startup ding. Blah blah blah. Now, some of you may remember there was no simple text installed. I copied over that from my SE/30 to this, etc etc. I took a screenshot. No camera sound. So I took another. And another. And another. I looked in the HD and they were all there. I never heard the sound...? I played with the volume buttons on the front to increase volume. Nothing. Went to the sound control panel. Nothing. No sound at all. What's going on? I thought it would be caps but then I remembered I heard the startup sound.
PS I did hear a weird loud noise when flicking the hard switch in the back. Like a "BVMMMP" sort of thing. I don't remember hearing this before but I'm gonna say that's just the Crt recharging from sitting so long?
PSS The front plate has some deep nicks in it. They annoy me. Leave it or switch out the front plate?
PSSS The screen keeps going off center, and needs to be tilted slightly I think. Any way to keep it centered? Hot glue on those knobs in the back?
PSSSS It prints wonderful with my new color ribbon... in black. I was reading I need macwrite or something to print in color? It's an ImageWriter II

Try booting off a floppy to see if sound works?
PS: yes, that's the monitor doing it's degaussing thing
PSS: It'll look worse with the plate removed
PSSS: Colour Classics are prone to dry solder joints usually around the yoke --> chassis; resolder these to get a more stable picture
PSSSS: Don't remember 😛

Should've been a little more specific. I mean like replace the front plate with a different one.
The picture is perfectly clear. I mean the picture is maybe I don't know. Let's say 2 cm from the plastic border on the left and 1 cm on the right. I don't think this is a solder joint. I know it's not. It's those little adjustment knobs. But I will res older all that stuff once I get good soldering stuff and when I recap the AB.
