Can I add a partition on a already partitioned drive.

I have a hard drive in my Mac SE, and I want to add a partition to the free space without erasing it. Can I?

Thanks

Ah well.  Hard drives that will work are cheap anyway.

You have 2 partitions at 2GB a piece on an SE. Why do you need more? I dont get it.

For multibooting. Can you install multiple system folders on the same partition?

I am also intrigued by multibooting. I heard there was a utility named System Picker, which can switch between System Folders within the same partition. I'm kind of eager to try it out, now.

Yes you can install multiple on the same partition. However you either need System picker or manage the active folder manually and not mess up.

Also, earlier Macs have a unique issue of choosing which partition of a drive at a specific SCSI ID is the default boot disk (despite what you pick in Startup Disk). PMount can set which partition is the primary. It's a side app included with Lido.

Ahh ok. Yea I have heard about system picker but I have never used it personally.

I usually install multiple system folders onto the same partition and manage them manually by dragging out the Finder on all folders that are not in use. You just have to be careful not to mess up when changing system folders.

I had mixed results with System Picker so I went back to handling things manually.
