Posted by: Scott Baret on 2017-01-03 10:41:47 Woah, is that one of the models in the Digital Personal Communicator line?
My family had two of them...one was a 1993 model, the other was a 1996 called "special edition".

Posted by: joethezombie on 2017-01-03 10:42:29 Wow, now that's a blast from the past! When I was working for MCI, we used a truck mounted 2-way radio to pound down the repeater and send DTMF tones to make a phone call. It was amazing when they got us Motorola bag phones, which were so large they were kept in a small satchel with just the handset available, attached via coiled cord to the electronics inside the satchel .

Nice way to 'hang up' BTW 😀 I want to get one of those, preferably a GSM version so it can actually work in the modern world.

I want to get one of those, preferably a GSM version so it can actually work in the modern world. The one pictured is the international 3200. IIRC, it's the first GSM brick phone.

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2017-01-04 05:24:49 Newfangled flappy paddle phone with no mike in the flipjigger? PFFT! This is a flip phone:

I had the high capacity battery on the phone, the standard battery with me as backup and the FatBack version in the glovebox with a handful of AA Batteries inside it.
Way better than the iPhone in terms of ergonomics and so light it floated on air. Didn't adopt cell tech for business use until I saw the DPC 500 at PC Expo. I bought the whole system then and there. 😀
p.s. NASAnut, if you're not going to edit your photos, you've gotta start holding your phone upside down in piccie mode. 😉

Unfortunately I can't edit photos on an iOS device sorry if that bothers you It doesn't bother me a bit, but the advice to simply invert your iOS device when sapping a shot was a serious suggestion as a workaround.
Most folks around here have sort of expect me to come up with playful translations and abbreviations of their handles. That dates from the very beginnings of the MLA. It's all in jest, note the wink, sorry it rankled you a bit.
