| Accelerator needed a taller hat. Now he's quite the distinguished gentleman. |

Posted by: joethezombie on 2017-01-02 10:02:22 Well, the accelerator was the 33MHz model. Since I'm pretty sure I will never find a 50MHz version in my lifetime, I've decided to do a little surgery on this guy. I replaced the 33MHz processor and FPU with 50MHz versions, and upgraded the clock to 50MHz. Unfortunately, it wasn't stable. It works at 40MHz, but crashes at 50MHz. The SRAM and TAGRAM on the board isn't fast enough to keep up with the new faster clock. Research reveals 50MHz models use 15ns TAGRAM with 25ns SRAM. 33MHz models are equipped with 25ns and 35ns respectively.
However! I recently secured some 8ns (!!!) TAGRAM and SRAM, so I'm going to see how fast I can get this guy running. Stay tuned!

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2017-01-02 19:12:22 I'll be watching closely, my PowerCache is only 16MHz. I'm sure the PCB won't support a 50MHz clock, but I bet I can coax 33MHz out of it.
Got any plans for your 33MHz castoffs? }🙂
