So now my other Pismo DVD drive just died... but it was the flex cable

I spent a couple hours in between wrapping presents and going to see Rogue  One today.

But my donor-now-secondary Pismo G3 had its DVD drive quit on me. USPS brought in the NOS compaq LG drive (8080n) just as I was fighting with my original.

I swapped controller boards, panels, and drive units... nothing. Finally, I went back to the NOS compaq frame with the new flex cable still in it and just moved everything over to it.

BINGO!!!

Now I have 2 new-old-stock drives with original controller boards in both of my Pismos.

What would be the point of having 2 of them? Well, to play Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness with my son. 😉
