Recapping apple ii monitor model A2M2010P
Posted by: falen5 on 2016-12-16 13:24:16
Hellp people. been away from old computers for a while but recently picked up an apple iie with the above monitor from an old friend

Powered it up after an inspection and boom - apple iie power supply lots of smoke. Opened it up and found 1 cap in bits and another cracked

replaced them with help of this utube video

got it working - monitor working - all good.

but after 10-15 minutes monitor display starts jumping, and stretching - figured it needs recap as well

opened it up and found same caps on a small circuit with the fuse (fuse board i guess)

these are the same RIFA caps that went boom on the apple psu.

there are 4 of them

the big one is .47uf  250 volt X......... i can find replacement for that ok  (it looks ok, no cracks like the other 3 but seems i have it apart ill replace it !!)

but the other 3...2 of them have a Y on them  im not 100% sure what im supposed to replace them with

will these do

the 3 small caps are all cracked and i wont power this thing back up until i replace them  cause they will probally explode as well

ive looked at all the caps on the main board , cant see any bulging or signs of leakage.

Is it likely that the 4 RIFA caps on the fuse board are the problem or is it best to just replace all the caps on the main board as well

cheers people

looking at the pictures of those 3 caps (my eyes are gone to the dogs) its a miracle the monitor works... but it does

the .47uf cap in the powersupply exploded, bits of it everywhere and the brown goo everywhere
