Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2016-11-30 10:42:23 Couldn't find one, so thought to start one:
Can't find the YoYo I was using so:
I'd like to know if the boxlike PowerBook 45W AC Adapter is compatible with my Pismo/500?

Posted by: finkmac on 2016-11-30 10:51:26 The black bar? Yeah, that one works with the Wallstreet/Lombard/Pismo/Clamshell iBooks.
Just be careful, I remember reading they were recalled for heat issues once?

Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2016-11-30 10:58:12 Thanks, that was super quick!
edit: [xx(] ]'> one or the other isn't working, hopefully finding the yoyo will prove the important one still lives.

Avoid them like the plague unless you really want one "just to be retro". I recycled mine after a VERY short time.
I've been using "yoyo" 45w PS units almost exclusively on my G3 and G4 systems as they were more reliable and the cord wrap was much nicer.

I dont think knock-offs where exactly a big thing when these came out anyway. Seller has two auction. With or without cord. So for this price, maybe worth picking one up anyway.

Posted by: FacnyFreddy on 2016-12-14 20:33:24 I got my YoYo originally a while back. I bought another one a year ago on fleabay from a different seller. Mine was not "NEW" but "newer" in that it had looked like it saw hardly any use/abuse.
Until I get my other battery re-celled, my 2nd Pismo 500Mhz is going to sit idle or plugged in. My only working battery has a 45min time limit for now.

Posted by: bunnspecial on 2016-12-15 06:44:13 The Yo-Yos with the large barrel plug work with all Powerbooks from the 3400c to the Pismo along with the clamshell iBooks.
Just be aware that there was a version of the Yo-Yo made for the early TiBooks and snow iBooks with the small barrel plug. These are a fair bit less common than the large plug Yo-Yos, but still keep your eyes open. IMO, those are still nice to have as they look great with those computers(as opposed to the ubiquitous white brick design used today) but just double check if you're buying one to use with one of the earlier laptops.

Posted by: danikayser84 on 2016-12-15 20:22:48 I've had two of those 1400/3400 bricks fail on me (both would get a 0.0 reading at the tip through a voltmeter), so yeah those 45W adapters tend to be prone to failure... I currently use a Yo-Yo on the 1400cs with no issues (I think they'll even work on the Duos even though they are a higher amperage but same connector)
