Performa 631 Power Supplies- need help
Posted by: 68k family on 2026-09-19 16:27:20 My original power supply but the dust somewhere around 2014. I had been using the computer religiously up to that point, I came to my office on a Sunday and it was dead. No sign of life. Nothing. Fast forward a few years (2020) I got a new power supply during lockdown. Now I have a faint sound when you push the power button on the back of the Mac. The soft power key doesn’t work. No lights at all. I figured the caps were bad on the main board. Fast forward a few more years, I recapped the main board and I have the exact same output. The fan doesn’t pulse, no lights, nothing. This time, I pulled the cd rom, hard drive, all accessories and now the sound is louder but nothing else. The hard drive (original ibm 500mb) and cd rom all work in other machines. For giggles, I found the old PSU and tried it. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Has anyone recapped these power supplies or have a known working one they would sell? This machine has a ton of accessories and I’d like to use it again. I’d also like to find an alternate machine to test the board in to see if it works. Thanks!
