I had some suspicions that in spite of a recap on the Sony PSU that the Lapis ProColorServer was demanding too much from the PSU and that a modern solution like the Babyface Univeral might provide a cleaner power line.
I wish I’d taken video or photos … but turns out yep.
In most other situations, a recapped Sony PSU is just fine, but at peak resolution of 1152x870 the display wiggled and wavered, hard to stare at for any length of time.
With the new PSU in place, it's gone. Clean as can be, actually usable.

Interesting. I just got done re-capping a Sony PSU for my main SE/30. I'm simply hoping that it will now be able to supply the power I need to run a 68040 accelerator card (Carrera most likely) with no issues. | Posted by: iantm on 2026-09-12 10:30:48
It only made a visual difference pushing the higher refresh/resolution, and on the external display so it had something to do with the card too. Otherwise a recapped Sony should be pretty stable. | | 1 |
