What is this cracked SMD
Posted by: quadra700 on 2026-08-27 23:10:27
Hi everyone, I have a dual 1GHz cpu card for a quicksilver but these two SMD's labeled IR1F 0206 are cracked. I didnt notice this when I got the card and tried using it and the mac would start to boot but immediately panic. I can find replacement components starting with IR1F but the following values are different. Anyone have any tips on how I can find replacements? I dont believe they blew, Im pretty confident they broke from physical impact. (The ones in the picture are not cracked, this is another of the same cpu card)

The following value is just a date code so you only need to match IR1F.

That and the fact that this is a polarised part makes the component a 1A Schottky diode. It looks like you can find the exact part on eBay, or match specs across datasheets and get a new equivalent part from Digi-Key, Mouser, etc.

If you want to be really certain, get a multimeter with a diode check function and apply it to the components on this other card (assuming you have the real thing and not just the picture) to see that they are diode-ing. But I think it's pretty likely that these are diodes.

Can be a diode or a capacitor...

Have not found any information with the reference.

Thanks for the help everyone! I ended up going with a couple from partsmine that Builder68 linked, they seemed like a pretty decent match. Will report back if I get the cpu card working. Its going in my Digital Audio with a Quicksilver 2002 logic board.

I got the diodes replaced! While I was working I noticed a spot nearby where it looked like a resistor was gouged off as well. There are multiple gouges on this PCB, its clearly been through some abuse. I measured the resistor on my good card and was able to source one from an MDD dual cpu card and replaced that as well. Didnt want to turn that card into a parts card but I couldnt find the resistor on any other cpu cards unfortunately. In the attached picture, I circled the diodes I replaced, and drew an arrow at the resistor I replaced as well.

And after all that, I popped the card into my quicksilver, and it worked!
