| DVD version of Tiger for G5 install? |
Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-07 19:21:35 I want to put Tiger on my G5 but so far the only version I've found is a 4-CD version, which I want no part of.
Was there no DVD version of the Tiger install disk? Seems kind of weird that Apple wouldn't make one when the G5 was perfectly capable of handling DVDs, but I can't find it anywhere...

Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-07 19:33:21 When I went on the garden, I found a 4-CD version of Tiger and a DVD of the 10.4.6 update, no DVD version of 10.4.0. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2016-11-07 19:47:20 I use the 4 CD set, its not that bad. Years ago I downloaded a 10.4.x DVD image but I could never boot from it. I do have a couple Legit 10.5 DVD's.

only version I've found
…
I can't find it anywhere How hard did you look? Did you go anywhere other than that one-stop-shop?
If you use trackerless BitTorrent, then consider the following. I do not vouch for these. I would try these if I were in your shoes.

Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-08 08:26:43 Wish I'd seen that last night, I already made a set of install CDs.
Also, does anyone know of a software for Windows that burns .dmg files besides PowerISO? My usual go-to (ImgBurn) doesn't.

When I went on the garden, I found a 4-CD version of Tiger and a DVD of the 10.4.6 update, no DVD version of 10.4.0. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough. I'm pretty sure that 10.4.6 DVD is a full installer, not just an update. I have original DVDs of both 10.4.0 and 10.4.6 I can upload if it's not.
|
Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-08 16:18:03 I'm thinking of using the CDs to put 10.4.0 on there and then using a flash drive to bring over the DMG files, since OSX can burn them natively.

Posted by: AlexCL on 2016-11-15 19:56:12 I was able up update Tiger 10.4 to 10.4.11 just using check for updates...the servers are still active...
|
Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-15 20:20:26 Well I ended up using the flash drive to bring over the DMGs, though my 10.4.6 DMG didn't install the 10.4.6 update. The 10.4.11 DMG successfully upgraded the G5 to 10.4.11 though.

Posted by: Unknown_K on 2016-11-15 20:54:27 A DVD would be faster for updates if you don't have fast broadband.
|
Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-15 21:04:25 I didn't think to make a 10.4.11 DVD with my G5...ah well, I could always make one with my newly acquired Indigo iMac DV.

Posted by: Floofies on 2016-11-16 10:15:43 Is this it? I don't have a box, just the DVD.

|
Posted by: EvieSigma on 2016-11-16 10:16:37 That's it! I don't need it now, but I knew it existed.
