| Quadra 840AV v2 ROM? |
Posted by: Gr1st on 2026-08-13 05:22:37 The ROM 87D3C814 does not appear in any ROM archives I could find, it is supposed to be the second revision ROM for this machine. Was it ever dumped / published? Playing around with an emulator project, hence the question. MAME seems to know about its existence, but that's about it.
Does anyone know? |

It's dumped and in the MacROMan test set and in my sheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...a2nWC9_t2w/edit?gid=1683537828#gid=1683537828 . |
Posted by: Phipli on 2026-08-13 10:45:33 I wonder if that fixes the issue where some of them don't seem to boot first time with a flat battery 😆 |

Please could you share the link to download? Because I have looked on the MacROMan Github repository and while there are two files for the Quadra AVs, both have 5BF10FD1 checksum. |

but the ROM dump itself does not exist in the MacROMan repository.

Posted by: croissantking on 2026-08-13 14:12:43 Which is the version that most AV Quadras shipped with? I’ll have to check my two boards now and see if they’re the same.
One of them uses a ROM SIMM. |
Posted by: frontein1 on 2026-08-13 21:09:05 Oh now this is interesting to me. I'm going to join the quest to find ROM checksum 87D3C814! |
Posted by: demik on 2026-08-14 14:36:38 Following this as my 840 has a ROM in a SIMM slot as well 🙂 |
Posted by: frontein1 on 2026-08-14 15:15:01 I dumped out the onboard ROM ICs, and a stock SIMM, and unfortunately both are 5BF10FD1. I also am unable to find any copy of 87D3C814 on the interwebs.
So if anyone has a copy, please please post it 🙂 |
Posted by: Renegade on 2026-08-15 04:30:23 Out of curiosity, I booted up my two 840avs this morning, and unfortunately, both have 5BF10FD1. |
Posted by: frontein1 on 2026-08-15 07:16:17 @Renegade Thanks for trying as well. Responding here to try to keep this at the top of the New forums list. Hopefully we can get someone to stumble upon this ROM on a machine somwhere. |
Posted by: frontein1 on 2026-09-08 21:00:19 Anyone have a contact for Jonathan Gevaryahu AKA Lord Nightmare? I see @Lord Nightmare has probably a dormant account on this forum. But his Google Docs listing shows he may have a dumped copy of checksum 87D3C814. |
Posted by: croissantking on 2026-09-09 02:32:26 You’re on the hunt @frontein1! |

maybe a bit rude to slap their gov name right there though My bad, yes I just did a copy and paste from the Google Doc without thinking.

My bad, yes I just did a copy and paste from the Google Doc without thinking. I don’t think it’s rude considering they use their real name on the Google Doc and on GitHub |

@adespoton you don't happen to have a copy or a lead I could follow on this do you? Sorry; no -- my mistake; I'm sure I had a copy of this at some point in the past, but that would have been before the development of MacROMan; I think it was when doing MESS work back in the early 2000s. Somehow it seems to have vanished since then. |

Posted by: Lord Nightmare on 2026-09-16 19:15:45 I presumably have it somewhere, although it isn't on my current storage, I'll have to hunt around old hard drives for it... |
