| Work Thread: Wiki Ressurection |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 00:00:55 You may notice there's a new DokuWiki instance on the wiki.68kmla.org subdomain.... we're working to integrate SSO in a way that doesn't require we edit XenForo or dokuWiki in a meaningful way for longterm maintenance.
This is a technology shift from the old MediaWiki for sure, and we'll be working to migrate items over from the old wiki (including a nice looking template) over the next few months. I'll use this as a work thread for now.
Sorry it's been so long since we worked on this! My next post will be when we have SSO working as expected. |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 10:04:59 Quick update and request for testing....
Do you all mind trying to login to the new wiki instance? I've configured the wiki to auth against the forum user database. Try clicking the "68kMLA Forums" button on the wiki login page and follow the prompts.

Posted by: alectrona6400 on 2026-06-22 10:47:38 i can log in just fine. |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 10:49:44 Thanks for giving it a shot! |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 10:58:17 Updated navigation config to send forumgoers into the wiki SSO flow. Guests receive the normal public link without SSO flow. |
Posted by: aladds on 2026-06-22 11:16:28 I was also able to log in just fine 🙂
Edit: and it seems I have permission to edit all two existant pages |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 11:19:55 Thanks for testing! I'm hoping for someone like @Apache Thunder to try it since their username has a space and I'm interested in how DokuWiku deals with that (or doesn't).
Setup/configuration work on the wiki continues... |
Posted by: Froggy814 on 2026-06-22 11:50:38 I was able to log in. I was also able to edit the start page. (I did edit it, but just to test that I was able to edit. I set it back to normal.) You should be able to see the old revisions log and see that. |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 12:12:18 @Froggy814 Still working on the permissions bit 🙂. Thanks for testing! |
Posted by: Apache Thunder on 2026-06-22 12:30:01 Yo, what you need help testing with? Just point me where. 😀 |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 12:31:48 @Apache Thunder try the Wiki link in the header (or here) and see if it lets you login with your MLA account! Since you have a space in your username, I'm not sure how it's going to handle it. |
Posted by: Apache Thunder on 2026-06-22 12:33:39 Yeah was able to do that. It would not let me login via the username/password field. Maybe because I hadn't created a account specific to the wiki so used the button you mentioned. My username shows like this. Seems it uses underscore for spaces:

Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 12:35:27 @Apache Thunder Perfect! It requires you use the link in the site header or click the "68kMLA Forums" button in the "Login With Other Services" section below the form. We may change it to always try a forums login but we're not quite there yet!
Thank you for testing! |
Posted by: Apache Thunder on 2026-06-22 12:37:44 Cool. Glad I could help with that. 😀 |

@Froggy814 Still working on the permissions bit 🙂. Thanks for testing! Happy to help! |
Posted by: luRaichu on 2026-06-22 12:50:35 Works fine for me |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 12:57:13 Sweet, thanks @luRaichu |
Posted by: wthww on 2026-06-22 15:44:11 Next configuration batch:
- Installed nspages
- updated ACLs to protect certain namespaces
- Enabled user/home pages
- Updated ACLs for user/home pages
As I pull in content, I'm working to update it a bit too, as I feel a straight import wouldn't be good for anyone at this point.
Need to do some work on the sidebar to make it more functional.
Also need to figure out the wiki logo situation. I don't love the DokuWiki logo 😀, but the old wiki logo is made for the sidebar layout common to old MediaWiki.
Also-also: need to decide on mass import of attachments for wiki or sifting through. Leaning towards mass import at this time as based on the traffic to wiki.68kmla.org already there's quite a few popular files.

Also need to figure out the wiki logo situation. I don't love the DokuWiki logo 😀, but the old wiki logo is made for the sidebar layout common to old MediaWiki. I guess the big question is should it be 1-bit or 8bit? 🙂 |
