Does anyone have the Radius FPD Card for SE with rev. 4.4 ROMs on board?
Posted by: Trash80toHP_Mini on 2026-06-10 21:39:59
I've got Rev.3.3 in hand and and Rev.4.1 Card on the way, but Rev.4.4 ROM is required for System 7.
Might that ROM have been read out and collected in any repository?

Have you done a search for somethinglike FPV 4.4 on https://macintoshgarden.org ?

LOL! That didn't work at all, but FPD 4.4 came up daisies. Thanks, buddy! Didn't think of the garden as a ROM repository!

My phone"s auto correct thinks FPV drones are more likely than FPD video cards.

There was a thread here about corresponding drivers too

Thanks, we're getting there. Haven't looked at my Radius16 in many years. Was very surprised to see no ASICs on it in the pic in that thread. Looks to be clonable!

Has anyone read in the 1987 (Coaxial Two Pin Connector) TPD/SE's 1991 v4.4ROMS?
Wondering if they're compatible with my FPD cards of the same vintage?
Will likely pull and test, but thought I'd ask if anyone had read in or done the dirty first?

Reverse of question went unanswered here:

Loosly related:

Question is about cross compatibility, not actually finding the ROMs.

Just edited in related topics I've found so far, will add more if found within overly short edit window or new post if after. Info and requests for it about these cards seem to be scattered all over the place. I'll see if I can gather together all I can find here in one place.

The first thing I'd compare is the crystal speed.

Generally Apple FPD cards use a ~57MHz clock while TPD cards use a 100MHz clock? Something like that.

They're both first gen. cards which didn't need/have freq info as were all the same. Later versions had more compatibility, like Mac Portrait and are have freq. info on the silk screen layer. All earlier cards went unlabeled or had 64KHz printed on the expansion port cover decal from what I've seen. Wondering if those covers post date the release of the second gen cards?

First gen. TPD card has a single 99.552 MHz can
First gen. FPD has two cans on board, 55.000MHz and 51.270MHz

From what I've seen, the DECLROMs have to do with the driver version compatibility, seemingly unrelated to card clock speed?

Found the second gen manual PDF, still looking for the first gen's.
Also found second gen. 1988 GS/TPD Display PDF, again looking for firs gen. B&W Display manual.

Guess I haven't linked this fabulous FPD document here, just over in the TD thread.
@Maurice did an amazing job of putting together all available FPD info and shared his findings.

Best presentation of the Radius Q&A docs I've seen.

May I add a note ?
Don’t forget the existence of the Radius MPD which goal is to connect an Apple Macintosh Portait Display

@Bolle said the second gen. FPD 69/75 should be compatible with the Macintosh Portrait Display.

He posted beautiful pics of the three SE Cards there.
