Macintosh Portable screen cable

Anyone has found a suitable cable to rebuilt the non-backlit Macintosh Portable screen one ?

Techknight borrowed a non-backlit to backlit adapter to reverse engineer it and hopefully make a new cable as there are no other alternatives.

The backlight won't work on mine because the cable is torn.

Confused. So you need a cable for a backlit or non-backlit model?

non-backlit model
The simple one, i have a torn cable.

Well any ribbon cable will do. Just decouple the ends, insert new cable. One from a floppy drive would work.

Ok, the floppy one seems wider than the original one ?

nope. You need an Ultra-ATA IDE cable. I rebuilt several so far. You can tear/cut that cable to the correct length and number of pairs you need, and then CAREFULLY un-crimp the crimp fittings, position the replacement cable and re-crimp. Done.

Godo to know, floppy ribbon too thick maybe?

Ok, thanks.

UATA cables have twice the density per inch than a floppy cable, and smaller wires.
