| Macintosh Portable screen cable |
Posted by: bibilit on 2016-10-31 05:54:20 Anyone has found a suitable cable to rebuilt the non-backlit Macintosh Portable screen one ?

Posted by: BadGoldEagle on 2016-10-31 07:47:43 Techknight borrowed a non-backlit to backlit adapter to reverse engineer it and hopefully make a new cable as there are no other alternatives.
The backlight won't work on mine because the cable is torn.

non-backlit model The simple one, i have a torn cable.

Posted by: bibilit on 2016-10-31 09:06:25 Ok, the floppy one seems wider than the original one ?
|
Posted by: techknight on 2016-10-31 11:31:08 nope. You need an Ultra-ATA IDE cable. I rebuilt several so far. You can tear/cut that cable to the correct length and number of pairs you need, and then CAREFULLY un-crimp the crimp fittings, position the replacement cable and re-crimp. Done.

Posted by: bibilit on 2016-11-01 00:23:07 Ok, thanks.
|
Posted by: techknight on 2016-11-01 10:36:48 UATA cables have twice the density per inch than a floppy cable, and smaller wires.
