What caps do not need to be replaced in a power supply?

Interesting surprise when I opened this AA15830. It appears that C1, C2, CA, C16 are Red film capacitors with the black rubber insulation around them. Are these considered more reliable than the block shaped ones that crack/explode (rifa's etc)? Also the large capacitors C8 and C9 appear to be in good shape and from what I understand, are not know to fail.

Should I just skip replacing C1, C2, CA, C16, C8 and C9 in this case?

you'll want to replace all the Electrolytic capacitors... but in most cases, you can leave the big AC filter capacitors.
good idea to look if the particular capacitor series are known to go bad just in case

Yeah they're polypropylene I think. They can be left, it's the paper RIFAs that need replacing as you say.
