Hihi! I have a 12" iBook G4 with no OS on the hard drive, trying to boot Panther .toast files over an IODD ST400. This device has been talked about on the forums before - as far as I know, within the OS it works fine for an emulated CD/DVD drive, however initial boot does not recognize it as such.
I have tried a few Open Firmware commands, however a lot of them may not pertain to this scenario. USB booting commands have traditionally been for USB flash drives straight to the system, and not external CD/DVD drives over USB (unless actual drives over USB work just fine?), so these haven't given me much luck, even the newly discovered OF command of "probe-usb multi-boot". It tries to access the IODD's virtual ODD but ultimately gives up with no options on the boot manager.
Would appreciate any help here, I have burned a couple of CD-Rs of the Panther CD images to no avail with a spare MacBook polycarb Intel (it fails every time, I've done this a few times by now, wasted a few CDs). Thank you! | | 1 |
