A friend of mine (the chap with the PB5300c I still haven't fixed) gave me a whole bunch of 30-pin SIMMs when I picked up the B&W G3.

So, that's 19 SIMMs! It's non-trivial finding a use for these SIMMs (and I haven't tested them), but it occurs to me that as a whole, members will have a surplus of old SIMMs. This is mostly because people replace lower-capacity SIMMs with higher ones, because normally SIMM slots are the limitation. e.g. 256kB SIMMs on a Plus being replaced by 1MB ones to get the full 8MB. Or 1MB SIMMs on an LC being replaced by 4MB ones to get the maximum 10MB (or on an LCII and still only getting 8MB!).
So what's your spare SIMM inventory looking like? I have a few others too, 72-pin EDO (2x8MB/60ns, 2x16MB/60ns Parity, 2x16MB/60ns). But also, PC66 x 64MB. | Posted by: Durosity on 2026-05-04 08:04:16 Mine looks like there was an explosion at a SIMM factory. 😀. | Posted by: nathall on 2026-05-09 22:27:03 I have so many, I don’t know what most of them are. I keep telling myself one day I will do the necessary research and catalog them all, but it never happens. Also, I think they have babies when I’m not around. | Posted by: shirsch on 2026-05-10 11:45:48 I have storage bins full of 32 and 72 pin SIMMs. Way too many to inventory. | | 1 |
