I recently got a Performa 6205CD that… well… let's just say it had a bit of a dust issue. But I've managed to get it all cleaned out (okay, I'm still working on the floppy drive, but that's not needed to boot). In any case, I managed to get it back together, hooked up a keyboard and mouse to see if it would boot, but it was a no go. The lights on the keyboard flashed, the fan was spinning, the Hard Drive spun up and the CD-ROM would open and close when I pushed the button, but the computer itself never booted, and I wasn't getting a video signal nor a bong from the speaker.
I've removed the P-RAM battery, and inspected both the logic board and PSU for signs of leaking capacitors, but everything looks good. Even so, I figure something needs a recap, but before I breakout my soldering iron, I figured I should ask for some advice on where to start rather than blindly replacing components. Any advice? | Posted by: Byrd on 2026-04-27 01:14:43 Check PSU voltages first | Posted by: DistantStar001 on 2026-04-27 20:16:09
Check PSU voltages first I was only able to test off of the HD power lines, but I got 5.12v on the 5v line and 12.62v on the 12v. I can assume that the soft power is working since I can't turn it on without a keyboard. | | 1 |
